Raja Choudhary must know that his ex-wife Shweta Tiwari is getting married again. However, he says in jest, “Really, she’s getting married? I hope she lives her life happily ever after.”
Shweta and Raja were married in 1998 and their divorce case dragged on for five-and-a-half years. She agreed to sign over their jointly owned property to him, a one-bedroom flat in Malad worth Rs 93 lakhs, as settlement. Shweta will now marry her boyfriend of two years, Abhinav Kohli, on July 13 in Mumbai.
Raja claims to have put the whole episode behind him. About his ex-wife’s impending nuptials, he says, “How does it matter to me? She isn’t marrying me again, right? So why would I get excited or react?”
Romantically, Raja isn’t on the same page as Shweta. “I am not dating anyone. I’m just enjoying my freedom and being single right now,” he says. “I will get married one day. I think I should register on a matrimonial site soon,” he adds with a laugh.
Raja hasn’t been in touch with Shweta, or their daughter Palak, since his divorce came through in October last year. “She (Shweta) asked me to sign documents which stated that I could meet Palak only if she (Palak) wanted to. But how will I know when that happens? Shweta will never let me talk to Palak,” says Raja.
He adds, “Post our divorce, Shweta said things like how her life was hell and how she was the beauty who lived with the beast. But these weren’t facts. I’m human, not a beast. Anyway all that is in the past now."
