Sania Mirza wishes Pakistani fans on their Independence Day
Sania Mirza, who is married to Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik, wished her Pakistan fans on the occasion of their Independence Day on Twitter.
Indian tennis star Sania Mirza took to Twitter to wish her Pakistan fans on the occasion of their Independence Day.
The Wimbledon winner posted a message on the social networking site that read:“Happy Independence Day to my Pakistani fans and friends !! Best wishes and love from your Indian Bhabi”
Earlier in the day, the tennis star was angered when a fan wished her ‘Happy Independence Day’. Mirza, who is married to Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik, wrote in reply: “Jee nahi.. mera aur mere country ka Independence Day kal hai, aur mere husband aur unnki country ka aaj!! Hope your confusion is cleared !!Waise aapka kab hai?? Since you seem very confused (sic).”
The message roughly translates to, “No, my country’s and my Independence Day is tomorrow (August 15) and my husband and his country are celebrating today (August 14). Hope your confusion is cleared. When is yours, by the way - since you seem very confused?”
This is not the first time that Sania Mirza was targeted by fans due to her relationship with Pakistan. Mirza, who was appointed the brand ambassador by the state of Telangana in 2014, was labelled as a ‘daughter-in-law of Pakistan’ by a politician, who also questioned her credentials for the honour.
