Sania Mirza and Yaroslava Shvedova slumped to a first round loss against Daria Gavrilova and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the women’s doubles category of the French Open on Wednesday.

Fourth seeded pair Mirza-Shevedova lost 6-7 (5), 6-1, 2-6.
Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles, Indo-Uruguayan combine of Rohan Bopanna and Pablo Cuevas advanced to second round after a straight sets win over French pair of Mathias Bourgue and Paul-Henri Mathieu.
The ninth seeds won 6-1, 6-1 and will next take on Filipino Treat Huey and Uzbekistan’s Denis Istomin.

Paes wins
Indian-American pairing of Leander Paes and Scott Lipsky defeated Moldovan-Korean combine of Radu Albot and Hyeon Chung to advance to the second round of men’s doubles at the French Open on Wednesday.
Paes and Lipsky won 7-6(5), 4-6, 6-2 in one hour and 55 minutes to enter the next round where they will take on Spanish pairing of Tommy Robredo and David Marrero, who ousted top seeds Henri Kontinen and John Peers in the first round.
Another Indian pair Purav Raja and Divij Sharan defeated the combine of Nicolas Almagro and Steve Johnson 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-0.
