Punjab farmers meet governor for relief against crop, property loss

Kisan Sangarsh Committee president Jasbir Singh Alhuwalia said that as per the Centre’s proposal, a compensation of ₹6,800 per acre for crop damage, ₹7,200 for excess silt in fields and ₹47,000 per hectare for land loss was to be given to the farmers.

The high court bench of justice Sureshwar Thakur and justice Lalit Batra acted on the plea from three Bhiwani residents who had demanded that the government be directed to cancel permission for mining and blasting by a private contractor in Kharkhari Sohan area, which was allegedly being done in close proximity with the Nigana canal.

Red alert issued for 7 Himachal districts amid heavy rain

The districts where a red alert has been issued include: Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, and Mandi districts where rain disrupted normal life.
