The stand-off between Orthodox and Jacobite factions over control of Kothamangalam Mar Thoma Cheriya Palli Church entered its second day. Police took into custody Orthodox priest Father Thomas Paul Ramban, who armed with a high court order, waited outside the church to gain entry.

Dileep had moved the high court six months ago, saying some officers probing the case had implicated him based on the statement of the first accused, a notorious criminal, and that the probe was conducted in a pre-planned manner.

Kerala flood highlights: Situation improving, state govt tells crisis management committee

Thirteen more deaths were reported on Sunday in the floods triggered by 10 days of torrential rainfall in Kerala, taking the death toll to 239. The overall death toll since May 29 rose to 370. Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said most people who were stranded would rescued by the end of the day. The biggest challenge now would be to provide adequate compensation to those who had lost virtually everything, he said.The rainfall intensity over Kerala has decreased over the past two days, the meteorology department said, adding that there was no alert of heavy precipitation for the next four days in the state.Here are the highlights

Kerala rains highlights: Death toll rises to 30, four missing

Thirty people have been killed, including 11 in high range Idukki in landslips, in the torrential rains in Kerala. Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan described the situation as “very grim” with army columns being deployed at Ayannkulu, Idukki and Wayanad.As water levels rise in various dams and reach almost their maximum capacity, shutters of at least 24 reservoirs in Kerala have been opened to drain out excess water. Four of the five shutters of the Idukki dam have been opened.Here are the live updates on Kerala rains:

The Idamalayar dam shutters were opened at 5 am, 6 am and 8 am. They were opened 1 metre each after the water level reached maximum storage capacity.
