Navlakha wrote to US Court seeking clemency for Pak ISI agent: Court

The NIA has claimed that Navlakha had visited the USA three times to address “Kashmiri American Council (KAC) Conference” organised by Fai. He was in touch with the ISI agent via e-mail and sometimes via phone. Fai was arrested by the FBI in July 2011 for accepting funds from ISI and the Pakistan government – purportedly for furthering the cause of Kashmiri separatists.

Vivek Agnihotri repeats his apology to Delhi high court, contempt case closed

A bench of justices Siddharth Mridul and Vikas Mahajan accepted Agnihotri’s apology after he turned up in person in the court and told the bench that he had “utmost respect” for the judiciary.

Elgar Parishad case: NIA court rejects Gautam Navlakha’s bail plea

The Bombay high court had last month directed the special court to hear Navlakha’s bail plea again after noticing that the previous order, rejecting his bail plea, did not contain proper reasoning and the analysis for the rejection of the plea.

Navlakha was arrested on August 28, 2018, for his alleged involvement in the case. He was released after an order from the Delhi high court on October 1, 2018. He was again arrested on April 14, 2020, after his anticipatory bail plea was rejected by all courts, including the Supreme Court. (HT PHOTO)

SC extends Gautam Navlakha's house arrest till Feb 17 in Bhima Koregaon case

On November 10, the apex court in an interim order permitted Navlakha to be placed under house arrest for a period of one month considering his health condition and old age.

SC pulls up NIA over attempts to link Navlakha with anti-national activities

The Supreme Court put the NIA in the dock over its attempts to link civil rights activist and Bhima-Koregaon case accused Gautam Navlakha with a series of anti-national activities.

Gautam Navlakha approached the Supreme Court after the Bombay high court rejected his request on April 26 finding that his demand for house arrest did not meet the requirements prescribed under a 2021 Supreme Court decision.

Supreme Court issues notice on Gautam Navlakha’s plea for default bail

Navlakha claimed in his petition filed through advocate Shadan Farasat that the 90-day period for filing of charge sheet was over and he was entitled to default bail under Section 167(2) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

Civil rights activist Gautam Navlakha was first arrested in connected with this case in August 2018 when the case was probed by the Maharashtra Police. After NIA took over the probe last year, Navlakha surrendered in April 2020. (HT PHOTO).

Navlakha quizzed on links with ISI man held in US

Gautam Navlakha was taken into custody by NIA from July 17 till July 22 for interrogation, and was particularly asked about a claim made by US Attorney Neil H MacBride in an affidavit in 2011 on the basis of a FBI investigation that claimed “Gautam Navlakha was introduced to an ISI General for recruitment by Fai at the ISI’s direction”, the officials said.

Delhi High Court cannot decide Navlakha’s bail plea: Supreme Court

A bench of justices Arun Mishra and Navin Sinha said only courts in Mumbai, and not the Delhi high court, have the jurisdiction to decide Gautam Navlakha’s bail plea.

Supreme Court stays order on Navlakha

The high court had directed the investigating officer to produce the entire set of records filed before NIA courts in Mumbai and Delhi for obtaining a production warrant and for extension of Navlakha’s judicial remand and fixed the matter for hearing next on June 3.

NIA moved the apex court against the order. A bench of Justices Arun Mishra, S Abdul Nazeer, and Indira Banerjee directed the stay and sought response of Navlakha on NIA’s plea by June 15 when the case will be heard next.
