2 militants killed in Anantnag encounter

The gunfight started after forces received an input about presence of militants following which a joint party of police, army and CRPF launched a search operation in Kachwan forest of Kokernag in Anantnag.

Two militants killed in encounter in south Kashmir’s Anantnag

The identities and affiliation of the slain militants are still being ascertained. Incriminating material, including arms and ammunition, was recovered from the site of the encounter.

11 killed as avalanches strike parts of Kashmir

Ten people, eight of them police personnel, were buried under snow on Thursday evening by the avalanche. Two were rescued alive on Friday morning while the bodies of five policemen and two others were recovered. One policeman is missing.

Dal Lake freezes as Kashmir records coldest night in 11 years at -6.8 degress

The official said Qazigund — the gateway town to the Valley — in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 5.2C, while the nearby Kokernag town registered a low of minus 5.3C last night.

Jammu-Srinagar national highway opened partially; Shimla gets more snow
