The incident which went viral on social media had taken place at Habib's workshop in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar. In a purported video from the site, the hairstylist could be seen spitting on a woman's head while dressing her hair and is heard saying, “if there is a scarcity of water, use saliva.”

Budaun gang-rape case: NCW takes cognizance, to meet victim’s kin

A 50-year-old Anganwadi worker was gang-raped and brutally murdered allegedly by a priest and his two aides in the Budaun district of UP, according to police. They said two of the accused were arrested on Tuesday, while the priest was on the run and four teams had been formed to nab him.

Hathras gangrape: NCW notice to Malviya, Digvijaya and Swara for disclosing woman’s identity

In its notices, the NCW has said the Supreme Court has held that a bar on disclosure of a rape victim’s identity under section 228 A (2) of the IPC is not confined just to the name. NCW added it means that the “identity of the victim should not be discernible from any matter published in the media”
