Goa government to sell onions to ration card holders at Rs 32 per kg

The state cabinet had on Wednesday approved a proposal to provide onions at a subsidised rate after the price of the commodity increased substantially
A total of 3.5 lakh ration card holders would be provided 3 kgs of onion each at Rs 32 per kg by holding a special drive across all fair price shops, the official said.(AP)

Truck with 25 tonnes of onion missing for a month, police launch manhunt

In his complaint, Mohammad Siyad said he procured 25 tonne onion from Ahmednagar in Maharashtra and sent a truck to fetch it. He said usually it takes a week to reach the destination but there was no trace of it even after a month.
Police suspect the driver of the truck must have been sold the load in the black market and he might have pocketed a good amount.

India allows export of onions lying in transit to all countries including Bangladesh

Following a meeting on Friday between officials of the commerce and external affairs ministries, the DGFT gave the go ahead for export of eligible consignments of onions “with the approval of competent authority”.
