Tejas Express resumes services between Mumbai-Ahmedabad as Covid cases decrease

The Tejas Express between Mumbai and Ahmedabad will run for five days a week -- Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. According to an official, the wedding season is picking up and they felt the service will see higher occupancy levels in these Covid-19 times.

IRCTC to resume services for Tejas trains from February 14

The two Tejas Express services are the first set of trains run by IRCTC, a subsidiary of the Indian Railways. They stopped operating in March last year due to the pandemic. IRCTC resumed services in October, but operations were stopped a month later due to low occupancy.

IRCTC has announced that passengers will be thermally screened before entering the coach and not allowed to exchange their seats once seated(PTI)

IRCTC cancels Lucknow-Delhi and Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express

“The management has decided to cancel all departures of IRCTC Tejas trains due to low occupancy levels resulting from coronavirus(Covid-19) pandemic,” a statement issued by the railway company said.

The Lucknow-New Delhi Tejas Express will remain cancelled from November 23 and Ahmedabad-Mumbai will remain cancelled from November 24.(HT Image)

The 736-seater Tejas Express witnessed 70% (501 seats) occupancy as on Jan 5, 2020, after the booking was opened on December 27 last year, officials from the Indian Rail Catering Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) said.
