CM Shinde gears up to mobilise his saffron support base through party’s spiritual yatra

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is launching the 'Bhakti-Shakti Samvad Yatra' to connect with religious groups and strengthen his party's support base. The yatra will visit major temples and spiritual sects across the state, and will be led by the 'Dharmveer Adhyatmik Sena' wing of Shinde's Shiv Sena party. The yatra will last until February 28 and will be monitored by MP Shrikant Shinde. This initiative aims to establish a direct link between the CM and religious-spiritual establishments in Maharashtra.

Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar was Shiv Sena spokesperson. He quit the party to join the NCP and later switched to the BJP and contested assembly elections. Wadettiwar was in Shiv Sena and quit the party alongwith Nayaran Rane when the latter walked out with a bunch of MLAs to join the Congress in 2005. Though Rane later shifted to the BJP, Wadettiwar stayed on in the Congress.

Districts asked to brace for Thursday’s heavy downpour

Maharashtra’s winter session likely to be curtailed to two days

After the Parliament cancelled its winter session, the Maharashtra legislature, too, is expected to either cancel its winter session or hold it for just two days, down from the traditional duration of two weeks

The state government is also considering holding the budget session in Nagpur and Mumbai, in two parts, so as to fulfil a condition in the Nagpur pact that at least one session of the state legislature should be held in the second capital of the state every year.(HT)

20,000 Maharashtra villages may soon run out of water, staring at drought

Water is scarce in at least 20,000 of the state’s 40,559 villages across 201 tehsils as they received less than 75% of the average required rainfall.
