Cannes 2012: The best pop-up spaces

Plenty of pop-up spaces are springing up in Cannes during the film festival (May 16-27) to meet the gastronomic, party and wellness needs of visitors and locals alike.

Plenty of pop-up spaces are springing up in Cannes during the film festival (May 16-27) to meet the gastronomic, party and wellness needs of visitors and locals alike. Here's a round-up of some of these temporary sites, where you might bump into a couple movie stars.

Nikki Beach
Launched ten years ago, this sunbathing and partying brand (with locations in Miami and Cabo San Lucas, among others) is back on the beach of the Grand Hôtel during the day before moving to the roof of the JW Marriott Cannes when the sun sets.

Villa Inrocks
French music magazine Les Inrockuptibles is back for a second edition of Villa Inrocks, in the gardens of the Médiathèque Noailles, with plenty of concerts May 16- May 26. The music mag handpicked a selection of French and international bands and DJs to provide the soundtracks every night from 6 to 11 pm.

3.14 Plage - Villa Schweppes
From May 16 to May 27, Villa Schweppes sets up shop on the beach of the 3.14 hotel. During the day, festival goers can relax in the sun lounge and jacuzzis and enjoy the villa's various entertainment options. From 5 pm onwards, Villa Schweppes hosts concerts with live bands and DJs, as well as official film parties. The Villa Schweppes will be open to the public every day from 10 am to 5 pm.

Le chateau du Cercle
The château du Cercle is back in Cannes to cater to the gastronomic needs of the members of its circle, its partners and other festival goers. The pop-up restaurant, launched by Japanese Michelin-starred chef Keisuke Matsushima, and its cocktail bar will be open from noon to midnight during the festival.

Vip Room
DJ / electro producer Jean Roch's Vip Room will get people dancing on the "Croisette" for the 12th consecutive year, at the JW Marriott Cannes. You'll need to be on the list of 2,000 guests to get in.

Gotha Club
The Palm Beach hotel will also host parties every night at the Gotha Club. Only 3,000 carefully picked guests will be able to get in every night.

Magic Garden & Le Baron
The second edition of Magic Garden & Le Baron will set up a music scene hosting live concerts at the Marches du Casino Barrière. A great place for night owls to get their groove on with directors, actors, producers and artists. The first part of the nights will only be open to a few friends of the organizers and cinema industry insiders. From to 00:30 to the break of dawn, it will be open to the general public.

Le Spa des Stars

"Le Spa des Stars" (litterally "The Stars' Spa") is back for the seventh consecutive year to help its prestigious guests escape the Cannes frenzy. Only VIP guests will be allowed to relax there when it sets up shop at the Palais des Festivals, but it will open to the general public from 10 am to 7 pm once it moves to the Carlton's beach.
