The results of the Caravaning design awards 2012-2013, based in Germany and awarded in association with red dot design, were announced early this week. This year, 92 participants from nine countries with entries spanning caravans, tents, interior accessories and toilets were judged in seven categories
A special prize for Best Interior Design, as well as a Best Practice award, was granted to Tecnoform S.p.A. for the company's interior furnishing for caravans and motorhomes. With its clean and modern design the Italian brand has introduced lightweight materials certified with the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) stamp. The materials used include natural water-varnished wood and ecoleather. Among the most innovative products in the collection are the electrically movable dinette table and a heat source integrated into the furniture.
Another winner, the rooftop car tent "Adventure" by CAMP WERK, received an Innovations for New Mobility award for special design achievements in both form and function. Intended for crowded camping spaces, the innovative tent unfolds itself into a living space with various usage options such as a sleeping area with a mattress, accessible with the ladder included in the package.
For the first time ever, the public has been invited to vote on the Caravaning design award: innovations for new mobility and choose their favorite product. Online voting will take place until August 17 at www.caravaning-award.de.
