Aamir Ali on wife Sanjeeda: I feel as if we are still dating

Actor Aamir Ali talks about his fifth wedding anniversary with Sanjeeda Shaikh. He says he finds it unbelievable that it’s been five years since they married.

Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda Shaikh celebrated their fifth anniversary on March 2. The couple, who dated for over six years before tying the knot, feels they “couldn’t be happier”. The actors, however, couldn’t celebrate their anniversary together this year, as Sanjeeda had to go to Jodhpur, Rajasthan, to shoot for a new TV show, reveals Aamir.

“It was a good day to start something new. We had a small celebration before she left on March 1. We spoke on the phone for a long time on our anniversary,” Aamir says, adding that they threw a huge party last year. He admits to being a shy person, and says he “doesn’t like celebrations too much”. However, the actor says he never misses any opportunity to “celebrate anything related to Sanjeeda”.

Aamir says, “It doesn’t feel like five years have gone by. Time really flies. Our relationship still feels fresh, and I feel like we are still dating each other. We have remained the same like we were 11 years ago. We have grown up together. We don’t celebrate special days just for the heck of it or because one has to. We celebrate our love everyday.”

Sanjeeda, who will be back in town after a fortnight, says, “For me, romance is spending quality time with your partner. When we were dating, I would ensure that even after shooting for sixteen hours, I spent at least one hour with him on most days. Aamir has changed after marriage, and has become more expressive. He has also become an expert in surprising me.”
