Ashutosh Gowariker to make a TV show?

Apparently the Lagaan director has been fleshing out the concept of the show for over a year now. Currently, the details of this certain project are being fiercely guarded by the channel and the film-maker.

After Amitabh Bachchan, Anurag Kashyap, Anil Kapoor, and Jaya Bachchan, yet another celebrity from Bollywood is venturing into the television industry. Sources say that film-maker Ashutosh Gowariker has been secretly working on a TV project for a popular entertainment channel.

Apparently the Lagaan (2010) director has been fleshing out the concept of the show for over a year now. Currently, the details of this certain project are being fiercely guarded by the channel and the film-maker.

An insider from the industry says, “Little is known about the project as of now, but it is supposed to be a fictional show that deals with an off-beat subject.Gowariker and his team have been working on it meticulously and doing a lot of research for a while now.” Although rumours claim that Gowariker will produce the show, there is no clarity on whether he will step in as a director as well.

After several meetings with the channel heads, things are apparently falling into place now. But it will be a while before any official announcement about the series is made. Apparently, Gowariker might cast a popular Bollywood celebrity in the lead role.

After his last release Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey (2010), which featured Abhishek Bachchan, the film-maker maintained a low profile. Earlier this year, reports claimed that his next film would be based on the ancient town of Mohenjo-daro. When
contacted, Gowariker remained unavailable for a comment.
