Model-singer Sushant Divgikar, who shot to fame when he appeared on the reality show Bigg Boss (season 8), feels that the show helped him become more humble. Also, it gave him an opportunity to meet his role model, yesteryear actor Rekha.
Sushant shares that Rekha has been the biggest influence in his life. “I should have a statue made of Rekha and worship it. She’s a diva in every sense—right from her work to her personal life and lifestyle. The way she carries herself, she doesn’t make it look as if she’s a victim of circumstances. She owns what she does and that makes her beautiful,” says Sushant, who won Mr Gay World-India pageant title in 2014.
Shedding more light on his experience in the Bigg Boss house, he says, “I would watch the show in college. I loved it. I never thought I’d appear on it! It was a good experience. I had a blast.”
“Other contestants, Diandra Soares, Upen Patel and Pritam would pamper me and never let me do any work. They would say ‘No, you don’t work, you’re too small for this!’. I didn’t believe I could stay with people peacefully,” adds the 26-year old, who was in Delhi recently for a performance as part of his all India tour with his Tribute to the Divas performance.
Popular for his ability to sing in both male and female voices, Sushant has travelled all over the world for stage shows. Confessing about his love for music, he says, “I wanted to be a singer since I was a kid. But one thing led to another, and I went on to host and participate in reality shows. Now that I have got back to it, I have recorded my first song for an upcoming Marathi movie. And the best part is that I have recorded the song in both male and female voices—for the lead pair in the film.”
