When people look at me, unki hansi nikal jati hai. Like I went to a funeral once, everyone was grim. But as soon as I entered, kaafi logon ki hansi nikal gayi.

And at social dos, people say, ‘yaar, ek joke suna do’. They think I have no other work.” And then he complains, “That’s what my image is. I have done about 12-13 years of serious theatre, but no one bothers. But since they love me, I don’t actually mind it.”

Talking about love, the 32-year-old star of the hit show, Comedy with Kapil, swears he is single, and has always been. “Sach mano, main college mein bilkul nahi bolta thaa. So I ended up being single,” he claims. But lots has changed since, he shares. “Now, I get a lot of messages on Facebook and Twitter. So many girls, all very pretty, say, ‘Kapil, reply kyun nahi kartey ho’; ‘Kapil, bahut pasand ho’. Ab bahut ladkiyan peechein padi hain,” he says, acting coy. “Bhagwan bhi sab ek saath de deta hai. But I wish it could be like, for these two years you work on your show, and after that you can enjoy the female attention,” he laughs.

What’s the kind of woman he would settle down with? “Zinda aurat,” he deadpans and adds, “Aur jo typical ladkiyon wali harkat na karey ki ‘khana kha liya?’ I know it’s love but it irritates, yaar.” So, is marriage on the cards soon? “First, I want to write and direct a comedy movie, ” he says.
