'I never wanted to be an actor'

She may be garnering rave reviews for her acting in the Sony show Bhaskar Bharti, but Ragini Khanna confesses she “never wanted to be an actor”.

“I wanted to be a singer. I’ve trained for fifteen years and sung for ad jingles. I wanted to cut an album. Now, however, that’ll have to wait. I’m concentrating on nothing except the show,” she says matter-of-factly. She further states that the show has helped her “get an insight into a man’s mind”, but she is quick to add that in real life, she is “a simple, reserved and shy girl”.

The actress, who happens to be Govinda’s niece, is adept at doing whatever it takes to survive in the industry. “I don’t mind running around producers if needed, I want work,” she quips. She has no reservations about exposing on screen either, provided the script demands it. “I never say never. It totally depends on the script and the character. I have set certain boundaries for myself, and within those parameters, I will do anything that comes my way.”

As for now, she is enjoying her stint in the limelight. Effortlessly signing autographs, she emphasises she’s
been on the field for a while. “This is not my first show, darling,” says the actor, who has previously acted in a
TV serial called Radha Ki Betiyaan kuchh kar Dikhayengi.
