Mahii Vij to play Mandakini

An upcoming episode of the TV show Yeh Hai Aashiqui will showcase the love of story of the ’80s actor, Mandakini and her alleged partner, underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. Mahii Vij will be essaying this role.

It is not just Bollywood that’s fascinated by stories involving gangsters and their love life. An upcoming episode of the TV show Yeh Hai Aashiqui will showcase the love of story of the ’80s actor, Mandakini and her alleged partner, underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

We’ve heard that Mahii Vij will be essaying the character of Mandakini. “The character was convincing, so I felt it would be interesting to play her.” The male actor who will play Dawood hasn’t been confirmed yet. Mahii adds that she will even style herself like the former actor. “I have seen a few films of Mandakini and she’s quite a pretty actor. Once I shoot the episode, I will perhaps know more about her life and what she went through,” she says.

Mandakini, best known for her rather provocative scenes in Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985) became infamous after her photos with gangster Dawood Ibrahim did the rounds in 1994. Rumour was that they were dating, though Mandakini vehemently denied it. Currently, she is married and settled in Mumbai.
