Meet actors taking the big leap from television to films in 2014
Nothing stops our telly stars from pursuing their big dreams and the proof lies in the fact that this year, too, a bunch of TV actors will be seen on the big screen. Here’s a glance at some of them.
Guess what’s common between Shah Rukh Khan, Vidya Balan and Sushant Singh Rajput? Well, apart from being the hottest thing on the block, they also belong to the brigade, who dared to take the big leap from TV to the big screen.

Featuring on the success list are also names such as Ram Kapoor, Rajeev Khandelwal, Yami Gautam and of course Sushant Singh Rajput, who wowed all with two successful films, last year – Kai Po Che and Shuddh Desi Romance. Manish Paul and Sharad Kelkar, too, managed to grab eyeballs, last year, with Micky Virus and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, respectively.
However, not everyone’s lucky, and often, stars of the small screen fail to make an impression when it comes to Bollywood.
For instance, popular TV actor Hussain Kuwajerwala’s debut film, Shree, bombed at the box office, last year, and so have been the case with popular actors such as Amar Upadhayay alias Mihir Virani of the cult show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, and Aamna Sharif aka Kashish of Kahiin To Hoga.
Both their Bollywood outings Dhund — The Fog (2003) and Aloo Ch aat (2009), flopped badly at the box office.
Failures, however, haven’t stopped our telly stars from pursuing their big dreams and the proof lies in the fact that this year, too, a bunch of telly actors will be seen on the big screen. Here’s a glance at some of them.
