Director Manish Gupta's film, based on the
murder case, might have been stayed by the Bombay High Court but now, a tele-drama inspired by the infamous 2008 Noida murder mystery is in the offing.
The show is essentially an adaptation of the popular Spanish tele-novella Donde Esta Elisa, with some changes in the plot that takes its inspiration from the Aarushi murder case. "Yes, though it's broadly based on the Spanish series, parts of it will be loosely based on the Aarushi murder case," says a source close to the project.
Fourteen-year-old Aarushi Talwar and 45-year-old Hemraj, a domestic help employed by her family were found dead in their Noida home on the night of May 15 - 16 in 2008. Last year, Aarushi's parents, Dr Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.
"In this show, too, the female protagonist will be missing from the very beginning of the story, and the entire mystery is around that," adds the source.
Interestingly, the show will also see the return of actor Bhagyashree on the small screen, playing the mother of the protagonist.
Bhagyashree started her career with Amol Palekar's Kachchi Dhoop before venturing into Bollywood with the cult film, Maine Pyar Kiya (1989). Rajeshwari Sachdeva, who was seen in a dance reality show in 2005, apart from a short stint in Shyam Benegal's TV series, has also been finalised for a major role in the upcoming show.
