City that she hoped her stint on the show will help her reconcile her with her estranged daughter. "Mujhe lagta hai mujhe meri beti milegi," she said.

But what was it, according to her, that drove Rakhi away from her mom in the first place? “Abhishek [Awasthi] ne uska dimaag bhara, usko family ke against bhadkaya,” she says, adding that Rakhi’s former boyfriend turned her against the family.

Clueless about the end of Rakhi’s engagement, Jaya says she’s all too happy with Rakhi’s beau, Elesh Parujanwala. “Mujhe Elesh bahut achcha lagta hai, woh saath rahenge, kyon nahi rahenge?” she replies.

And what does she think of people who label her participation on the show a ‘drama’? “Hamaare khandaan mein koi drama nahi karta. We don’t do drama because her [Rakhi’s] father is very dangerous. Whatever I speak is the truth – Jesus is my witness,” she says.

She says that the fact that everyone else on the show spoke in English made her very uncomfortable. “Whenever they talked in English, I had doubts whether they were talking about me,” she says. Though she was the first to be ousted from the Colors’ show, she’s hopeful that, “some day my entire family will be in a reality show, together.”
