Popularly known as the ‘Rudest Man On Television’, VJ Raghu Ram is back on TV after a break of more than a year. In a tête-à-tête with HT City, the man known for being the nasty judge, speaks about the reasons for his sabbatical, his bollywood debut, working with John Abraham and much more.

"I was very tired and felt completely burnt out. You know the telly world can really take a toll on you. I wanted to get away from routine. After I decided to quit my job, travelling was one thing that I indulged in.

I spent two and a half months being in a forest up in the Himalayas, where there for no electricity and I even had to prepare food for myself," he says, explaining his reasons for a hiatus. He further says, "For me it is very important to take breaks as my mind just needs it after a while."

One may remember that Raghu had a falling out with MTV and was not part of Roadies seventh season. He now returns in the eighth season of the cult show, that was his brainchild when it started in 2003.

“I had never thought that I would be back with Roadies. But when I came back and the channel asked if I would be part of the new season, I agreed. I will be producing the show in the same capacity and will be making appearances throughout the show as and when required as I have done in the previous seasons. I am happy to be back and getting geared as there is lots of work that needs to be done.”

Raghu is also making his foray in Bollywood with Abbas Tyrewala’s upcoming movie, Jhootha Hi Sahi. “This is my first Bollywood film. I hope people will like me and appreciate my work. I am playing John’s (Abraham) friend. And the role is totally different than what people expect from me,” he says.

Talking about working with John, he says, “John is superb. It was great working with him. John made me feel so comfortable and now I am a huge John fan,” says Raghu, who would also be seen in Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan.
