Shilpa Shetty brings Big Brother expertise to new show

Back in 2007, she created ripples by winning Celebrity Big Brother in the UK. Five years later, Shilpa Shetty, along with hubby Raj Kundra, has played an “instrumental role” in coming up the idea of a Super Fight League (SFL) reality show.

As per SFL co-owner Kundra, the show will be like "Big Boss meeting Roadies meeting The Contender." "I discuss all my ideas with Shilpa. She has been instrumental as far as the reality show goes. I am sure her Big Brother experience will go a long way in helping us with the show. Initially, we had jointly decided that it’s going to be a 16 male fighters/contestants show. Then, we thought of combining eight male and female each, to make it more interesting and add masala for the public," he says.

Raj who owns the Mixed Martial Arts league with Sanjay Dutt, says the show will turn Indian fighters into stars and give them recognition. "It also has great entertainment potential," he says, adding it will be a daily just like Bigg Boss. "It’s going to be 50-day long series. The concept is that every week people will vote for two people they want to see fight, and Friday will be the elimination night. The fighters will also be given tasks throughout the week."



Like Bigg Boss and Big Brother, the fighters will be completely cut off from the outside world. "They will be trained everyday and for this we are bringing in the best international MMA trainers," he says. Kicking off by July 1, Raj adds that the show will also acquaint people with all the rules, regulations and techniques of an MMA fight, a new concept in India. "Three GECs (TV channels) are after us to give them the rights, but we can’t divulge their names yet," he says.
