Ssharad Malhotraa: It’s difficult to maintain friendships in television industry

TV actor Ssharad Malhotraa admits that he takes time to open up and make new friends.

Ssharad Malhotraa is a man of few words, and few friends too. The actor, who has been a part of TV industry for quite some time now, says he is particular about the friends he makes in the industry. Ssharad shares that he is closest to Prateek Chakravorty, who directed and produced his debut Bollywood film From Sydney with Love (2012), and more recently a short film titled Prem, Gajra Aur Chilli Chicken Ki.

“Prateek and I bond well; we are like brothers. We have been with each other through thick and thin. Our understanding is good and we help each other grow. I hope that our friendship remains and lasts a lifetime,” says Ssharad.

In an industry, where friendships change at the drop of a hat, Ssharad says he takes time to call someone his friend and also admits that it’s difficult to maintain those friendships. “It isn’t easy to develop and maintain friendships in this [TV] industry. Everyone needs their own space. Also, being a sensitive person, it becomes difficult for me to handle it when relationships don’t work. And that’s why I prefer sharing myself with a few close ones,” says Ssharad, who is known for shows such as Banoo Main Teri Dulhann and Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap.

Asked about his ex, actor Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya, Ssharad says, “I am not in touch with Divyanka. Everyone has moved on, and happily leading their respective lives in their own space.”
