His sudden split with wife, Shraddha Nigam, became the grist for rumour mills. He’s nearly invisible on Dill Mill Gaye, the show that made him a household name, but Karan Singh Grover prefers to keep his personal life, personal.

“Our break-up wasn’t ever in the pipeline but it happened and both of us have come to terms with it. Shraddha and I still talk, we’re friends,” he says with a wry smile.

So then why does he shy away from commenting on his relationship status? The actor defends himself saying that the reasons for their break-up were only meant for their parents and close family to know.

“We can’t sort out our life in the press. Shraddha didn’t issue a statement ever, keeping the sanctity of our relationship in mind. She didn’t wash dirty linen in public, nor did I. As a public figure, you have to understand that everyone wants to know how and why we broke up. We can’t feed their discussions, right?” says Grover whose budding friendship with his Jhalak Dikhlaja choreographer Nicole is said to be the core reason behind the split.

Grover and Nigam were spotted at the international airport in July flying out for a holiday together. He then completed his show, Jhalak Dikkhla Jaa 3, where he was the second runner-up. Grover was also acting in Dill Mill Gaye, a daily soap then, and buzz was that he was expected to start on two movie projects.

“After India Rocks, it’s the movies. We’ll start on both of them very soon. One was supposed to start in September or so. But it was pushed ahead for various reasons. So now, both my film projects will go on the floors early next year,” he clarifies.

And what about Dill Mill Gaye? He says that the producers felt that taking the story forward with new interns was the best deal. “A lot of the older interns are still there on the show,” says Grover, “In the last few months, I haven’t shot much for it. I don’t know if I’ll ever return to it. If the producers want me to come back, I would, but I have no plans as of now.”
