The king of rib-tickling one-liners, Manish Paul is being called back to pep up Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. Does it mean he is the "indispensable" factor of the show? "No one is indispensable... I believe in staying grounded, and let my work speak for myself," says the 32-year-old.
Having hosted the last three seasons of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, and now being called back to pep up yet another edition of the dance reality show, actor Manish Paul might seem like the ‘indispensible’ factor of the show. The 32-year-old, however, doesn’t want to think that way.
“No one is indispensable, at least I never say that... I believe in staying grounded, and let my work speak for myself,” says the Delhi-boy, who’ll now be seen hosting the show with Ranvir Shorey.
TV actor Drashti Dhami and Ranvir, incidentally, drew a lot of flak across social media for lack of “spontaneity”, post which Drashti was replaced by Paul. Though there’s a strong buzz about Ranvir too, is on his way out, Paul refutes it saying, “He’s very much on the show. In fact, sab bol rahein hain ki Ranvir khul gaya mere saath.” And what about ego issues, considering Paul’s like a ‘veteran’ of the show? “There are no insecurities between us... we are having fun hosting it,” he assures.
A pro at rib-tickling one-liners, Paul doesn’t want to talk about where all Drashti could have gone wrong. “She’s a great friend, and I am not here to judge anybody. In fact, I feel sad for her actually... I think she was doing well,” says the Micky Virus (2013) actor, who’s now straddling between this show and the post production of his next release.
“If all goes well, I might even start shooting for my third Bollywood film by mid August,” he reveals.
