As colleges in Karnataka remain shut amid raging protests against Muslim girls wearing Hijabs, opposition leaders have now slammed the Basavaraj Bommai-led BJP government in the state. Congress Leader Priyanka Gandhi took to Twitter taking a stand for women's rights. "Whether it is a bikini, a ghoonghat, a pair of jeans, or a hijab, it is a woman's right to decide what she wants to wear. This right is GUARANTEED by the Indian constitution. Stop harassing women," tweeted Priyanka with the hashtag #ladkihoonladsaktihoon. Her brother and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi validated her on Twitter. Similar sentiment was echoed by AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah and Telangana Minister KT Rama Rao. The Karnataka government has however urged the students to follow the uniform dress code and has also arrested a few 'outsiders' after the stir turned violent yesterday. Watch for more details.
