Delhi Police have denied permission for the Cockroach Janata Party’s planned October 10 protest at Jantar Mantar, citing short notice, alleged violations of conditions during an earlier demonstration and public-order concerns. Joint Commissioner of Police Nupur Prasad said the application was submitted only three days before the proposed event, while the prescribed guideline requires advance notice. Police also cited restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita in the New Delhi area and warned that violations could invite legal action. The proposed demonstration concerns demands for accountability from Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The decision comes amid heightened security preparations in the capital.
