Ever since the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat, no one has been able to accept the movie, be it for its flawed history or the storyline. Many people have gone on to say that the movie reeks of Islamophia, homophobia and sexism. Historian Rana Safvi dissects Padmavati at the core of these issues and says that the filmmaker has completely lost the movie in its translation of the poem by Malik Muhaamed Jayasi. One dimensional characters, negative portrayal of Alauddin Khilji's sexuality and showing Padmavati in the same stereotypical notion hasn't gone down well with people. Can Bhansali find a way to get out of these charges?
