A Wall Street Journal report purportedly exposed text exchanges attributed to Yahya Sinwar, suggesting that the death toll in Gaza was intended to pressure Israel to end the fighting. According to the Wall Street Journal, Sinwar appeared indifferent in the dozens of messages. However, Hamas has refuted these reports, stating that Sinwar never made such comments. Hamas spokesperson Ghazi Hamad stated that Sinwar was "heavily concerned" with ending the war.
