Ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh will be provided to kin of deceased: Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met the victims of the stampede at Santragachhi junction in Howrah. She announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh to the injured. She also informed the media that two people were dead and several were injured. The stampede was triggered by announcement of two trains arriving simultaneously at the station. She has also asked the railways to investigate the matter. She also mentioned that she would cooperate with the railways and provide assistance in sorting out coordination troubles.
