A descendant of Subhash Chandra Bose has sought an investigation into the circumstances of the freedom fighter's death. Chandra Kumar Bose has sought the constitution of a special investigation team. He also called for a DNA test of the purported remains of Netaji Bose kept at the Renko-ji temple in Japan. It is believed that Bose died in a plane crash in Taipei on August 18, 1945. Multiple panels, like the Mukherjee commission (1999), Shahnawaz committee (1956) and Khosla Commission (1970) have looked into the plane crash.
