Saffronising JNU as per RSS diktat: Congress slams VC, seeks his ouster
Indian National Congress leaders, part of the party’s ‘fact-finding’ team on the recent violence in Jawaharlal Nehru University, addressed the media on Sunday. Sushmita Dev, while briefing the press, fired salvos at the Vice-Chancellor of the varsity, accusing him of ‘consistently saffronising the university at the diktat of the RSS’. She also posed multiple questions to VC M. Jagadesh Kumar regarding the violence, and ‘recommended’ his ouster. Dev said that the panel’s report containing findings and recommendations had been submitted to party chief Sonia Gandhi. JNU saw unprecedented violence on January 5 when a masked mob ran amok and attacked students and teachers alike. The police has named JNU Students’ Union president Aishe Ghosh among 9 suspects, even as the latter has claimed innocence and blamed the RSS-affiliated ABVP.
