Spicejet Airline appoints 45 women pilots

On the eve of International women's day, SpiceJet appointed 45 women pilots. The women pilots were recruited to Spicejet's Boeing 737 and Bombardier Q400 fleet. Around 175 women applied for the position out of which 45 were selected. The airline would be adding around 200 flights to its fleet in the next few years. The airline has sent an open invite to women pilots across the country. Both captains and first officers, having a valid commercial pilot license were hired. In India, 15% of women fly as airline pilots, while globally, it is an average of approximately 5%.
