Mumbai roads reported increase in vehicular traffic on Monday. Private offices in Mumbai Metropolitan Region opened after being shut for close to three months. Absence of local train services led people to take private vehicles to reach workplaces. Traders and shopkeepers have also started to use the roads extensively. The first day of gradual opening up witnessed increase in traffic on Western Express Highway. Slow moving traffic was reported in certain stretches of the highway. Beginning today, Maharashtra govt has allowed private offices to operate with 10% strength or 10 people, whichever is more. The decision came under a staggered plan to unlock Maharashtra. Coronavirus cases in India crossed 250,000 on Monday. Maharashtra leads the national tally with highest number of cases. The state overtook China's record by crossing the 84,000-mark.
