Opposition parties slams government over arrest of Anna Hazare
The arrest of veteran social activist, Anna Hazare, hours before his scheduled fast-unto-death against graft, triggered a fierce political outcry against the central government on Tuesday, with leaders from various parties terming the police action undemocratic. Training guns at the central government, Bharatiya Janata Party, equated the crackdown on Hazare to the 1975 Emergency, when the then prime minister,Indira Gandhi, arrested thousands of activists and political leaders to stay in power. Meanwhile,the Gandhian activist got support from the Left parties too. Extending solidarity with Hazare,Senior leader of Communist party of India, Gurudas Dasgupta condemned Anna's arrest unequivocally Samajwadi party president Mulayam Singh Yadav demanded release of Anna Hazare.
