Russia says more than 90% of its trade with BRICS countries is now settled in national currencies, with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov blaming Washington for accelerating the shift. Speaking at the BRICS summit, Peskov said the U.S. turned the dollar into a tool of political pressure and effectively forced Moscow to seek alternatives after restricting its access. Russia then discovered that national-currency payments were “much more effective,” he argued. Peskov also praised Putin's friendship with Modi and BRICS' vision of a multipolar world.
