Indian Army chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane is in Israel on his maiden 5-day official visit. During his Israel visit, Army chief Naravane will discuss avenues for enhancing bilateral defence relations. Army chief will hold multiple meetings with senior Israeli security officials to take forward bilateral defence cooperation. Army will also exchange views on various defence related issues during his meetings with Israeli security establishment. Army chief's visit comes days weeks after India-Israel joint working on defence cooperation decided to set up a task force. Last month, external affairs minister S Jaishankar had also visited Israel to boost mutual ties. Due to lac standoff, India was forced to speed up the purchase of military hardware from various countries including Israel. India is sourcing from Israel the firefly loitering ammo, spike anti-tank guided missiles, spice guidance kits & surface-to-air missile system.
