Wife of martyr Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhoundiyal joined the Indian Army on Saturday. Nitika Kaul's induction comes two years after her husband died in a gun battle in J&K. Chief of army's Northern Command Lt Gen YK Joshi piped stars on Kaul’s shoulders. The ceremony took place at the Officers Training Academy in Tamil Nadu’s Chennai. Kaul, who is from Kashmir, cleared Short Service Commission examination, interview in 2020. Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhoundiyall & Nitika Kaul were married in April 2019. “My journey has just started, last 11 months made me learn so many things. I would like to thank my mother-in-law & mother for keeping faith in me. I am experiencing the same journey that my husband had been through. He’s always going to be a part of my life, even today he’s somewhere around,” Kaul said. Major Dhoundiyal laid down his life fighting terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama. Major Dhoundiyal was awarded Shaurya Chakra for his sacrifice for the nation.
