India gets its new Vice-President as Jagdeep Dhankhar takes oath. Dhankhar who is India's 14th Vice-President was administered oath by President Droupadi Murmu. Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with the entire cabinet was in attendance at the grand event. Former Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu also graced the occasion at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. V-P Jagdeep Dhankhar will also be the Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha. On August 6, Dhankhar, who was NDA's nominee defeated the opposition‘s candidate Margaret Alva. Dhankhar won the Vice Presidential election by securing a huge vote share of 74.36%. This margin is the highest in the last six Vice Presidential elections. Dhankhar succeeded M Venkaiah Naidu who demitted the office on August 10. Naidu, who is praised even by the opposition, had an emotional farewell in Rajya Sabha earlier this week.
