Kargil Diwas: Army organises motorcycle rally, musical evening at Udhampur HQ

  • Celebrations began in Jammu & Kashmir to mark the 22 years of victory in Kargil War. Army's Northern Command organised a 2-day motorcycle rally to commemorate Vijay Diwas. Northern Command chief Lt Gen YK Joshi is leading the 25-biker team from Udhampur. The 'Dhruv Kargil Ride' will end at Kargil War Memorial in Drass of Ladakh. As part of Kargil Vijay Diwas 2021, a solemn ceremony was organised in Udhampur on Wednesday. J&K's 'Shaurya Band' joined Northern Command at Udhampur to present a musical evening. As per a statement by the Army, the celebration was organised to honour heroes of Kargil War. Northern Command chief Lt Gen YK Joshi & other Army veterans attended the event. Covid protocols were strictly followed during the entire event, the statement added. Indian armed forces had defeated Pakistan in Kargil on July 26, 1999. Since then, the day is celebrated every year as 'Kargil Vijay Diwas’.
