Incessant overnight rains pounded Mumbai & its neighbouring areas on Sunday. The city faced severe water-logging, disruption of local train services and vehicular traffic. At least 25 people were killed & several injured due to rain-related incidents. As per BMC, the accidents were reported in Mumbai's Chembur & Vikhroli areas. In a video, vehicles were seen being dragged in water in an inundated street. According to ANI, the car was being swept away by strong currents in Borivali east. The suburban train services were suspended due to water logging on the tracks. Railway officials said that the services were, however, resumed in the morning. The IMD has issued a red alert for Mumbai in the backdrop of heavy showers. It said that a sudden change in climatic conditions led the city to witness over 100 mm rainfall in 6 hours.
