Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico accused the European Union of “hypocrisy” and “hysteria,” arguing that major powers pursue their own energy interests while smaller countries face criticism for maintaining Russian supplies. Citing the U.S.–Russia diesel agreement, he said Washington seeks lower domestic fuel prices while Moscow gains substantial revenue. He also questioned the EU’s influence over the wars and crises in Ukraine, Gaza and the wider Middle East.
