Eng well placed despite India's strikes

England was 268 for four in 80.3 overs at stumps on the opening day of the first Test against India at Lord's on Thursday. Kevin Pietersen was batting on 34 and Ryan Sidebottom was still to open his account when light was offered to the batsmen. It was very much England's day, from the toss until the last few overs - when after the second interruption caused by bad light - India hit back with the wickets of Michael Vaughan and Paul Collingwood to tilt the balance slightly.
