About The Video

  • Day one of the Wimbledon 2021 ensured some of the power-packed performances. Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray won their opening matches; Stefanos Tsitsipas was knocked out. Amid the action, the loudest applause was given to the ones present outside the court. Professor Sarah Gilbert & National Health Service staff in UK received a standing ovation. They were honoured for their contribution in developing Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid vaccine. The claps gradually got louder as people stood up to acknowledge the NHS team. Video of the moment was shared on the official Twitter handle of Wimbledon. Late Captain Sir Tom Moore was also honoured on the occasion. Moore had launched a Covid fundraising initiative before losing battle to the virus in February.
