French Open, Day 1: Angelique Kerber out, Kvitova makes comeback

Angelique Kerber lost her opening round match against Ekaterina Makarova on the first day of the French Open. The German was comprehensively beaten 6-2, 6-2 by the Russian. She is the first women's No.1 seed to lose in the first round in the Open era. Petra Kvitova made an emotional return to the court after a hand injury.
