Biden’s swearing-in: Trump to be 1st President in over 150 years to skip event

US President-elect Joe Biden is all set to attend his inauguration on January 20 as the 46th president of the United States. National Guard troops poured into Washington DC ahead of the ceremony. Security was tightened after riot at the US Capitol unleashed a wave of fear. Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that he would be skipping Biden’s inauguration. Trump will be the first president in over 150 years to skip his successor’s swearing-in. Traditionally, the incoming and outgoing presidents ride to the US Capitol together for the ceremony, as a symbol of the nation's peaceful transition. Biden, on the other hand, welcomed Trump’s decision of not attending his swearing-in ceremony calling it a ‘good thing’. Biden had said, “I was told on my way over here that he indicated he wasn’t gonna show up at the inauguration. One of the few things he and I have ever agreed on.” Meanwhile, Joe Biden reached Washington on the eve of his inauguration.
