Iran threatens ‘strong step’ away from nuclear pact, sets deadline for Europe

Iran has threatened a 'strong step' away from an international nuclear pact, if European nations fail to meet its September 6, 2019 deadline for concrete steps to salvage the deal. Tehran said it would take the 'third step' towards reducing its commitments as per the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. The pact was jeopardised when the Trump administration unilaterally pulled out of the deal negotiated by his predecessor Barack Obama. The pressure is now on the other signatories to the pact to help Iran avoid crippling US sanctions.
