Russia has rejected a Reuters report which claimed that President Vladimir Putin pushed for a ceasefire in Ukraine. “No, it’s not true,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said in response to the Reuters report. The Reuters report claimed that Putin’s suggestion for freezing the Ukraine conflict was rejected by the United States. Putin, however, in November 2023 said that Russia never refused peace talks on Ukraine. Kyiv, on the other hand, has publicly rejected ceasefire calls, claiming a halt to the war would allow Russia to rearm itself.
